A Complimentary Workshop in Conjunction with CNMI Industry Day
The CNMI Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network at the Northern Marianas College, in collaboration with the CNMI Department of Commerce, is proud to present a special workshop titled “What to Expect When You’re Exporting” on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Azucena Room, Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan.
This event is offered at no-cost and is held in conjunction with the 2025 CNMI Industry Day, providing attendees with an in-depth, hands-on session that complements the broader discussions of local industry growth and federal procurement opportunities. Separate registration is required, and seating is limited to 25 participants.

This workshop is specifically designed for licensed business owners and entrepreneurs with products or services ready to enter new markets—either internationally or through the federal supply chain.
Participants may expect to:
- Gain foundational knowledge on exporting products and services;
- Learn how to save time, money, and reduce risks in the exporting process;
- Discover small business resources available in the region and beyond;
- Understand how exporting aligns with federal contracting, including key steps to get a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) and CAGE Code;
- Receive a free 1:1 business consultation with the guest speaker.
We are excited to feature Chuck Lopez, MBA, Director of Southeast Asia at Global Risk Mitigation, as our keynote speaker. With over 18 years of hands-on experience in international business development across Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand, Mr. Lopez brings unique insights into how small businesses can expand globally—and leverage that momentum to pursue federal contracts.
Both exporting and federal contracting require strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and logistical coordination. Businesses that successfully export often already possess the systems, capacity, and certifications that position them well for government procurement. Similarly, companies that have navigated federal contracting processes, such as acquiring a UEI or CAGE Code, are better equipped to manage the documentation and diligence needed in international markets. This workshop will help demystify both paths and show how they can be complementary strategies for sustainable business growth.
