CNMI SBDC Network Delivers Federal Contracting 101 Training Across Saipan, Tinian and Rota

The CNMI Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network at the Northern Marianas College successfully concluded Part 1 of its Federal Contracting 101 training series, equipping local businesses with practical knowledge and resources to enter the federal marketplace. The training, led by expert business consultant Sixto K. Igisomar, provided attendees with step-by-step guidance on setting up their SAM.gov accounts and crafting an effective capabilities statement—two essential components for businesses seeking federal contracts.

Businesses from Tinian and Rota participated virtually through designated training hubs at their respective SBDC Service Centers, while Saipan attendees engaged in an in-person session at the NMC As Terlaje Campus. This hybrid format allowed entrepreneurs across all three islands to benefit from expert insights and tailored guidance.

Looking Ahead: One-on-One Federal Contracting Counseling

The training series continues with Part 2, where participants can schedule one-on-one counseling sessions to receive focused guidance on setting themselves up for bidding on federal contracts. These personalized sessions will provide deeper support on proposal development, compliance requirements, and procurement strategies.

Building Toward CNMI Industry Day

This initiative is part of the CNMI SBDC Network’s larger effort to prepare businesses for the upcoming CNMI Industry Day, a highly anticipated event that will be hosted on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. CNMI Industry Day is a premier matchmaking event that connects local businesses with federal agencies, military contractors, and prime vendors. The goal is to create opportunities for CNMI businesses to learn about contracting needs, procurement requirements, and upcoming projects in industries such as construction, logistics, professional services, and disaster recovery.

“We are committed to ensuring that CNMI businesses are not only aware of federal contracting opportunities but are also ready to compete and win contracts,” said Nadine C. Deleon Guerrero, CNMI SBDC Network Director. “This training series is just the beginning of a long-term strategy to strengthen our local economy through federal procurement.”
